I have soooooooooooo much going on. It's stressing me out in a major way today.
A few weeks ago, I was feeling very overwhelmed by life and I wasn't able to take a step back and see.... I don't know how to describe it. Basically, after a particularly crazy week, I began taking my weeks one day at a time instead of one week at a time. Conquering my hectic schedule in manageable bite-sized chunks works so much better!
But Thursdays are always too long and headachey that I tend to lose sight of my goal of getting to the weekend. Today, I actually had to switch back to the multi-day focus and that pretty much ruined my day for me. You see, the thing is, I hardly ever have weekend plans or much of anything due on Mondays for my cataloging class. So most of my schoolwork gets crammed between Monday and Thursday. I enjoy sitting around doing nothing all weekend.
However, this next Monday, I have both a huge vocabulary quiz and a subject analysis assignment due for cataloging. I didn't let that phase me this week, as I had plenty of other work on my plate due Tuesday and today (a result of my one day at a time philosophy). I figured that cataloging stuff could wait until AFTER Thursday (meaning the weekend, as I have knitting work on Fridays and I NEVER do school work on that day). But it just so happens that I'm going out of town this weekend and won't be able to get my butt into the SILS Library (where the materials I need are on reserve). I have to look up something like 80 vocabulary words that have to do with rare book cataloging and I need more than a day to study this stuff. And to look up those words, I HAVE to use the books on reserve in the SILS library. Unless any of you can tell me what "diapers", "foxing", and "tree calves" have to do with books? (OK, to be fair Google did just give me great definitions for "foxing" and "tree calf").
So that knocks out anywhere from 10 am Friday through some unknown time on Sunday of potential library time. Because I didn't even realize this conundrum until today, that leaves me 11 hours of free time from 10 pm tonight (after my Collab. shift) until 9am tomorrow (which is the time I'd have to catch the bus to get home on time in order to get to work at 10). But the library in which I need to use the reserve books closes at 10pm and opens at 7:45am. I am getting sick and I'm already sleep deprived, so I'll be damned if I have to get up early again until next Wednesday. Plus, I doubt 1 hour of library time will be sufficient for me to look up all these words. And I need to work out tomorrow morning!
Luckily, S. was kind enough to take my shift this evening from 6 to 10. I owe her big time.
