The day I grew up,

and bought new clothes.

Since gaining weight and moving steadily into my mid-twenties, I still have not done a complete wardrobe makeover. Necessity has forced me to buy new pants recently, but many of my shirts are still from high school.

This week, I finally got fed up with not having shirts I am comfortable in (they're too small!) and decided to grow up. I got up early today (to beat the after-church shopping crowd) and headed to Durham for bargain hunting.

I got to Ross 30 minutes before they opened, so I headed next door to Target to browse the clearance racks. I left with 3 plain fitted Ts, a plain white dressy collared button-up, a loose fitting black short sleeve sweater, and a tan bra all for under $50!!!!

At Ross, I filled up a cart (seriously) and headed to the fitting rooms. Out of everything I tried on, I was only left with one pair of brown pinstriped cropped pants, a black and white cotton dress shirt, and a 2 piece (bargain!) outfit consisting of a blue/brown wrap shirt and a brown flow-y skirt. I also found some really cute mary jane style Naturalizer shoes for $25. Although, I did find that they require socks.

By the time I left Ross, I was sick of shopping, but I still really wanted to find a cute summery dress that's casual enough to wear to class, so I headed over to T.J. Maxx on the way home. I didn't find any dresses that worked, but I did get a nice pair of brown dress pants (Petite, so they're not too long!) and some black knee-length shorts (pants?).

When I go home, I was exhausted from all the changing, but I managed to go through my clean clothes and weed out anything too small or teenagery. So far, the get-rid-of pile consists of 4 pairs of shoes and a plastic Target back stuffed to the brim with tank tops and t-shirts.

Well done! Soon, you'll have my problem- the clothes in the junior deptartment are too "young", but the clothes in the misses deptartment are too "old"! Where is the "young professionals" department?

You should try going to Marshall's for bargains or New York & Co. for decent prices on stuff. I always get worn out after 2 stores of trying on clothes.

And I know what you mean about getting rid of clothes. I am terrible for keeping clothes forever even though they don't fit me!
