The assigned book for my class has some really interesting stuff about ancient libraries. For example, the titles of librarians in ancient Egyptian and Babylonian libraries are so cool. We really are boring these days, calling all librarians "librarians."
Here are the noteworthy ones:
Man of the Written Tablets
Keeper of the Tablets
Master of the Books
Keeper of the Sacred Books
Scribe of the Double House of Life
Learned Men of the Magic Library
But ultimately, the best of all was this one:
"The scribe-priest who was 'Keeper of the Sacred Books' at this temple had an assistant, a woman librarian with the title of 'Lady of Letters, Mistress of the House of Books.'" - p. 30, History of Libraries in the Western World (4th ed.) by Michael H. Harris.
