Obama post, about a week late

Last Monday, Matt, his dad (Dan), his little sister (Laura), and I went to the Obama rally at the Dean Dome. We arrived around 6 pm and stood in line in the pouring rain for about 45 minutes, when they finally started letting people inside. Matt, Laura, and I ran down the aisle and got armbands to stand on the floor in front of the stage. We stood there from 7 to 9:30, bobbing our heads and shifting around to the crazy cover band "Liquid Pleasure." Some time later, Matt's friend Hans and my buddy Laura joined us! At about 9:30, some Reverend came out to stay a prayer, then Sen. David Price and another Senator (from Charlotte, I think?) spoke. Quite a bit more time passed, then Sam Perkins aka "The Big Smooth" spoke and introduced some UNC girl, who in turn FINALLY introduced Obama. I would guess he didn't come out until after 10 pm. He spoke for a good hour, I think. It was pretty amazing!

Here's a video of the crowd getting riled up:

After the rally was over, Matt, Dan, Laura, and I all walked 2 miles back to our cars, parked at Matt's office in Carrboro. WHEW!

Then, Matt and I (and the rest of everyone from the rally) got late-night drive-through at Wendy's... We didn't get home until 12:30.
