My parents are re-carpeting the upstairs of their house next week, so I had to go home this past weekend and clean out my old closet. Until Sunday, my closet was pretty much frozen in time. Everything in it was exactly as I left it when I was in high school (minus many of my clothes). Here are some crazy things that I found:
- lemon flavored toilet bowl lip gloss keychain
- an Episcocats book - "Don't You Just Adore Gothic?"
- Basically a 1978 religious lolcats book (HILARIOUS)
- a formal letter to my dad requesting permission to move into the bonus room (huge room over the garage where his study is) when they planned on re-carpeted the upstairs in 1999
- My reasons being we had to move all the furniture anyway, that I had too much stuff to fit in my room and all his office stuff could easily fit in my room
- This proposal included a floor plan for my "new room"
- old artwork from about 1995 through 2002, including but not limited to:
- Cartoon characters based on alphabet letters (I used to draw these on the hour-long bus rides to Morrisville Elementary)
- A goth version of me holding hands with Trent from Daria

I totally had a crush on Trent.
you're so lucky your mom isn't a whirlwind of clean-sweeping energy...
nothing at my parents' house stays the same for more than a week b/c of a nosy mom.
I so love going through my old stuff boxed in my parent' basement. It's a total blast from the past.
I have a ginormous trunk filled to the brim with stuff I've hauled through many apartments, a condo, 3 houses, 2 husbands, and three kids! It's my treasure, evidence of all of my previous selves.
I don't keep anything any more except yarn and patterns...
