A Vacation, Finally!

Along with all the school work and work work I had to do this weekend, I spent hours on end with Matt looking for a nice place to spend a weekend together for our 2 year anniversary (first weekend in November). We looked at hundreds of cabins in the south-western part of the state and found a few that were very nice. But nothing that was available really stood out. Then we thought, "How about an upscale hotel in Asheville? That would be about the same price." How mistaken we were! Nothing nicer than a Days Inn was even CLOSE to our price range. I found a cool website that had romantic package deals for couples staying at inns/hotels/b&bs in Asheville. Several of them caught my eye. In particular, a Llama trek on the App Trail! Well, that one wasn't really romantic, but it sounds fun, right? The romantic ones were pretty much all the same, 2 tickets to the Biltmore, a 1 hour couples massage, a bottle of champagne, and a box of chocolates. One hotel included breakfast in your room. Oh yeah, and it was also a jacuzzi suite! But, the hotel was kind of sleazy and had mixed reviews so we decided not to do it. Plus, we think it would have been more expensive than actually buying all of that separately. Anyway, we found a cute little hotel about .5 mile north of downtown called the Princess Anne Hotel. Today, Matt is booking us the One Bedroom Grand Suite complete with a micro kitchen and a claw-foot tub! We're also planning on visiting the Biltmore while we are in town. November 3 is the first day of "Christmas at the Biltmore" so that should be interesting. I thought Christmas season started after Thanksgiving season?
